What to Pack for a USA Tour — Checklist for Indian Travellers
Packing for the USA from India is mostly common sense — but a few things are easy to forget, and a couple can cause real headaches if you leave them behind. Here’s a practical checklist for Indian travellers.
Documents (carry in your hand luggage)
- Passport (valid 6+ months) and your US visa
- Printed and digital copies of your tour itinerary and confirmation letter
- Flight tickets (printed or on your phone)
- Travel insurance details
- A few passport photos and photocopies of your passport
- Some US dollars in cash + an international credit/debit card
Clothing — pack for the season
The USA spans many climates, so pack for where and when you’re going:
- Spring/Autumn: layers — a light jacket, full-sleeve shirts, and a warm layer for evenings.
- Summer: light, breathable clothes; a hat and sunglasses (the Southwest gets hot).
- Winter (north): a heavy coat, thermals, gloves and a warm cap.
- Always: comfortable walking shoes — you’ll be on your feet a lot.
Electronics
- Universal travel adapter (the USA uses Type A/B plugs, 120V).
- Power bank, phone charger, and any device cables.
- A local SIM or international roaming plan (we can advise).
Health & toiletries
- Any prescription medicines (in original packaging, with the prescription).
- A small first-aid kit — pain relief, band-aids, antacids, motion-sickness tablets.
- Travel-size toiletries; hotels provide the basics.
Little things people forget
- Indian snacks for travel days (within US import rules — avoid fresh/packaged meat and produce).
- A reusable water bottle.
- A light daypack for sightseeing.
- Photocopies and digital backups of all documents.
What NOT to bring
- Fresh fruits, vegetables, or meat products (US customs restrictions).
- Anything you’d be upset to lose — leave valuables at home.
